Why dont i have the same skills with different character, same prof.
Hi. New to the forum AND guild wars.
I don't know how exactly the skill portion of the game works, specifically how one attains spells. I know you can get them from quests and trainers, but there's been a problem. I started a necromancer on a friend's account and i liked the skills I had with him. However, I bought my own account and started my own necro. I followed a different path (somewhat just because I was familiar with it) and I didn't attain the same skills as my first necromancer. The two necro skills I am talking about are Animate Bone Fiend and Signet of Agony. I attained both of these skills in the Ascalon area, somehow. I looked up both spells in two guild wars wikis and i couldnt find the quest or skill trainer that resides in ascalon that awards or sells these skills. Can anyone help me out? Also, why does my first necro have access to a lot more skills from the same trainer that my second necro has access to much less skills? Any help, very much appreciated. |

Animate Bone Fiend is a quest reward for this quest. It's one of the desert missions in prophecies.
If you're in Factions, you get it from this mission on Shing Jea Island which is the tutorial island. Are you sure you're not thinking about Animate Bone Horror? That one is offered in Pre-Searing as well as in early Ascalon. |

with regards to why you got the skills in your friend's account, it was because he had previously "unlocked" it. As this is a new account, you need to unlock the skill before you can use it. This is done in multiple manners, get it from hero trainer (not in prophecies campaign and requires hero), unlock in pvp (spend balthazar faction to unlock skill on pvp character) or do it in pve and get from quest/ signet of capture.

A little precisation in addition to what awry said: when you unlock a skill it becomes aviable to purchase from any skill trainer in the appropriate campaign. So, being already unlocked, you could get them from the ascalonian skill trainer, while now it's not possible.

Yeah, all of these replies are very helpful. My friend had a Me/N, that would explain why they were unlocked earlier.
